And once again NASA'S APOD website shows a revealing close up picture from the Spirit rover of the Martian surface...in color

There have been now at least several pictures like the above image which show a sandy, rock strewn Martian landscape. The shapes and distribution of these rocks got my attention. Why does the terrain appear to be littered with broken rocks. These Martian rocks are similar in shape to the ruble debris from the dynamiting of granite outcroppings that have been blasted during freeway construction although these Martian rocks look as is if they could also be water worn. So, why exactly is the Martian landscape in this condition?

From Mars Global Surveyor	There are miles and miles of them. The diameter of the tubes is tremendous...20-40 meters in general. That's about big enough to put two interstate highways through. Could it be the remnants of a really huge worm type animal or a Martian form of transportation? Whatever it is, it will have to reach out and bite NASA on the butt before they will initiate any serious investigation.

 

 

The Face On Mars
From NASA's Viking I probe	A mile-long, 1500-ft high humanoid 'Face on Mars' The Viking orbiters photographed the surface of Mars and the pictures are fascinating. Archaeoastronomy	Martian Pyramids
From NASA's Mariner 9	In his 1980 book Cosmos, Carl Sagan shows this picture in the chapter Blues for a Red Planet with the image caption The Pyramids of Elysium. Sagan writes, "The largest Mars Pyramids have a base width of 3km and a height of 1km, so they are much larger than the Pyramids of Sumer, Egypt and Mexico." The Sagan Pyramids

Sagan's  matter of fact  use of the word  "Pyramids"  is  quite telling.  I see  no ambiguity at all in  his  statement.  He is comparing the pyramids on Earth to those on Mars  and  if  size  does  matter,  the  Martians  are  winning. We know the pyramids on Earth are constructed artificial  structures.  Are we to then assume that the Pyramids on  Mars just appeared by some form of osmosis, or realize  that  they too  are  constructed  artificial  structures?
