Editorial Reviews From Publishers Weekly When scientists discovered thermophiles--primitive microorganisms that live in deep seafloor vents and eat hydrocarbons (chemicals like gasoline)-- experts assumed the mysterious bugs had little to tell us about ourselves or about the earth's core. Cornell University Professor Emeritus Gold, however, who for 20 years directed the Cornell Center for Radiophysics and Space Research, here proposes the striking theory that "a full functioning... biosphere, feeding on hydrocarbons, exists deep within the earth, and that a primordial source of hydrocarbons lies even deeper." Most scientists think the oil we drill for comes from decomposed prehistoric plants. Gold believes it has been there since the earth's formation, that it supports its own ecosystem far underground and that life there preceded life. Check this out: "The Deep Hot Biosphere" |

1. OUR MYSTERIOUS HOME
Imagine that you have a house--a large and spacious house, perhaps a Victorian mansion. You have lived there for your entire life, yet the house is so large, that you and your family have more or less confined yourselves to the ten or twelve rooms you tend to use, and the rest of the house--at least three times as many rooms, if not more--is closed up and unoccupied. Neither you nor other members of your family care to deal with cleaning and maintaining the other areas, so doors are kept shut, windows closed, and furniture is covered with sheets and plastic. The space you all use suits you well; anything additional is extra work, so you let it lie. The "other" part of the house can be quite creepy at times, but the basement, especially, is deep and largely unexplored. |
HOLLOW EARTH - FACT or FICTION
| When the realization that the Earth was hollow first dawned on me, I reasoned that if it were true, then ancient cultures like the Sumerians, Egyptians or Mayan civilizations, who were highly proficient astronomers, with profound esoteric knowledge which was encoded in their temples, would surely have been aware of it. I began to look into world mythology and scriptures for clues and found that not only were these people conscious of the Hollow Earth, but their entire belief system was alluding to it. It was the 'mythical' Underworld, the Land of the Dead. |
| It has long been held that the earth is hollow. But it was not until 1968 that any sort of proof was forthcoming. In that year, photographs taken by satellite seemed to show an enormous hole at the North Pole. Or did they? |

The Creature From Sonoma County
Well, there is this story that my grandfather told us when I was younger. It's true, I swear to God on my own soul. This happened to my grandfather and my father (when he was just 17). My family has always owned this land here in northern California (Sonoma county). We have about a couple thousand acres in the redwoods and there are old mine shafts around the whole area. They go back as far as the 1800's and my grandpa and Dad went exploring down in one. They were going into the shaft for a while when they said they started to hear a clicking noise. They could smell a fire, so they were curious as to what was on fire all the way down In a mine shaft. So they went further down and they started to see a weird substance on the walls of the mine. Then they saw the fire farther down and they noticed that there was something near it, but they couldn't make out what it was. They got closer and then they saw a hideous beast that looked like a boar with human features. It had hands and patches of red hair on its body. They soon found out what the clicking noise was. It was an animal skull of some sort being bashed against a rock to be cracked open. As soon as the thing saw my grandfather and my dad, it charged after them. They said that they've never crawled out of a hole so fast. The thing slashed my grandpa on his back. He still has the scar. He told me never to repeat the story because no one would take me seriously if I did. But I know for a fact it is true because my grandmother said that my grandfather had the most scared look on his face when they returned home that day. |
