The Sexual Ethics Anthology

The intent of this anthology is to provide key texts in sexual ethics illustrating the historical discussion of the subject. Texts on the philosophy and theology of marriage are to be included. This anthology is intended to grow over time. Texts currently available include:

• The Christian doctrine. Chapter 10, Of the special government of man before the Fall, including the institutions of the Sabbath and of marriage, by John Milton; translated by Charles R. Sumner (1825; revised 1853). Translation of "Caput X" of: De doctrina Christiana, which was completed circa 1658-1660 and discovered in 1823 among the papers of the Public Record Office, London.
• Remarks on the Character and Writings of John Milton, by William Ellery Channing (1780-1842). Excerpt: Milton's Treatment of Polygamy.
