Computer experience: I have been working with computers intensively since 1974, much of that work online. I have at various times been familar with DOS, CP/M, Windows, and Mac operating systems; and for a while I operated a WindowsNT server. I have also had some exposure to Unix. I have used a wide variety of software and have supervised installation of a library automation system (Bibliofile, in conjunction with InMagic and local networking). I am an experienced user of OCLC, Dialog, and the Internet. I am also able to write in hypertext. My strength in computers is less as a technician than as a planner. I have a strong base of experience and reflection upon which to ground decisions about the future and a keen awareness of the special dynamics of planning and management in a computer environment.

Languages studied, besides English, include French, German, Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. Have also dabbled in Old English and Old Norse.

Avocations: Book collecting, bookbinding, bouldering, chess, commonplacing, genealogical research, hiking, mountain biking, and snorkel-diving. My passion is writing.
