The Walton's Mountain Reunion - 2000

The Eighth Annual Waltons Fall Reunion was held the weekend of October 21-22, 2000. We left our home in Huntington, West Virginia, early on Saturday morning, and we arrived in Lynchburg, VA, at about 1:00 PM. Imagine my surprise when I turned on the TV in our hotel room and saw the Marshall football game on a Lynchburg TV station. Anyone who knows me, knows that if there is anything I love more than The Waltons, it's Herd Football.

The football game ended, and we made our way to the banquet room at the Lynchburg Hilton. There I met up with my internet friends, Scott and Karen Vestal from North Carolina and Jenni Wiesemann from Indiana. Here is a picture of the four of us together at the banquet.

Members of the Hamner family and several cast members from The Waltons were present. Cast members there included Jon Walmsley (Jason) and his wife Lisa Harrison (Toni), Martha Nix Wade (Serena), and Tony Becker (Drew). Kami Cotler was scheduled to be there, but she had to cancel due to a death in her family.

Sunday morning we drove up to Schuyler, VA, to visit the Walton's Mountain Museum. We didn't stay long, since we have been there several times before, but I did get to see my good friend, John Olvey, who had his Walton collection set up outside this year.

On Monday, October 23, a luncheon was held in Lynchburg. The guest of honor was Michael Learned (Olivia Walton). Unfortunately, I did not get to go, but my friend Jenni did, and she was fortunate enough to get to sit at the head table with Miss Learned!
