We publish novellae and long essays.
And short stories when we're short
on novellae.

We've won
the
Million Writers Award for Best
Publisher of Novella-Length Fiction three times in a row. (So we've
retired from the competition.) Here's the
notable stories they selected
from 2007. (We're also among the
top 10 online journals in terms of
being most-often chosen by Million Writers for "notable" stories.)
We're giving
$500 to Pat Rushin, the winner of our 2009
Blodgett Waxwing Prize in Literary Fiction, for his
novella, "The
Call," and $100 to Andrew Rooney for his novel-excerpt, "The
Fact of Suffering." Congratulations to the winners, and
best wishes to all contestants.
Here's the winner the first Blodgett
Waxwing Literary Prize (from 2005):
Halcyon,
by J. Todd Gillette, who later
came to work for us.
