We publish novellae and long essays. And short stories when we're short on novellae. Guidelines here (but submissions are currently closed.)

We've won the Million Writers Award for Best Publisher of Novella-Length Fiction three times in a row. (So we've retired from the competition.) Here's the notable stories they selected from 2007. (We're also among the top 10 online journals in terms of being most-often chosen by Million Writers for "notable" stories.)

We're giving $500 to Pat Rushin, the winner of our 2009 Blodgett Waxwing Prize in Literary Fiction, for his novella, "The Call," and $100 to Andrew Rooney for his novel-excerpt, "The Fact of Suffering." Congratulations to the winners, and best wishes to all contestants.

Here's the winner the first Blodgett Waxwing Literary Prize (from 2005): Halcyon, by J. Todd Gillette, who later came to work for us.
