The Warped Wings R/C Club governing body is comprised of appointed Charter Members only. Any change in Charter Membership will require a unanimous vote by quorum. A quorum shall consist of one more than half of the current number of Charter Members.
Club AMA status can only be changed by unanimous approval by all Charter Members. Club chartering and insurance certification's shall be maintained yearly through application to AMA Headquarters
New applicants for membership must attend 2 club meetings before their application can be voted on (exceptions will be allowed for reasons such as work schedule, church, etc.).
Applications for membership will be voted on by all Club members in attendance with majority approval required.
Charter Members reserve the right to veto new memberships.
New applicants must provide verification of current AMA membership prior to becoming an official Club member.
Initiation Fee and Club Membership dues must be paid at the time of application approval.
All persons shall be eligible for membership, and shall agree to abide by the Club’s Bylaws, Field & Safety Rules and those of the AMA.
Club Membership dues will be $50.00 per year or $8.00 per month whichever is least at time of enrollment.
An Initiation Fee of $15 will apply to newly enrolled members.
Each and every Club member who participates in Club flying activities must be a valid AMA member - per AMA Bylaws, Article III, Section 2.(b)] of Junior, Senior, Open or Affiliate category or is a current Model Aeronautics Association of Canada (MAAC) member.
Annual Club membership dues and AMA membership dues are to be paid in full no later than the January Club Meeting of each calendar year.
Any member who does not pay their Club dues within the deadline of the January Club Meeting will be dropped from the Club roster. Should they seek to renew membership; they will be considered a new member, must pay the Initiation Fee, and go through the normal application procedures with verification of AMA membership as described in (3.) above.
Any member is entitled to a prorated refund of their annual Club Membership dues if at any time they become dissatisfied with the Club and they wish to relinquish their membership. This does not include the Initiation Fee or any AMA membership dues.
Types of memberships and limits on total number of members shall be determined by the Charter Members.
The membership shall be divided into the following categories:
Charter Member - Includes those who are part of the governing body or Club Officers, appointed by the existing group of Charter Members in event of a vacancy – according to Article 1. Only these individuals are eligible to hold office. Subject to Club Dues, excluding Club Officers. AMA membership is required.
Associate Member – Includes all flying non-Charter Members who are 18 years or older. Subject to Club Dues, Initiation Fee, and AMA membership is required. Associate Members are eligible for Charter Member nomination, subject to vote according to Article 1.
Family Membership - Includes any family member under the age of 18 of Charter or Associate Member parents, provided they are a current AMA member. Club dues are waived. Upon reaching the age of 18, any family member must become a full dues-paying Associate or Social Member. Initiation Fee will be waived. Only one newsletter will be made available per family address.
Social Member - Includes those non-flying individuals who are interested only in the social activities of the Club, subject to standard new member application procedures. AMA membership is not required. Social Members are ineligible for Charter Membership. Social Membership dues are $25.00 per year, or $4.00 per month whichever is least at time of enrollment.
Honorary Member – Includes flying or non-flying individuals who by virtue of a unanimous vote by the Charter Members, is granted life-long membership in the Warped Wings R/C Club. This distinction is granted to selected members in recognition for their numerous years of demonstrated contribution, dedication and service to the Club and the hobby/sport. While Club dues are waived, current AMA membership status (payment of annual membership dues) is required for all flying Honorary Members.
This section provides for the enforcement of the Club Bylaws and Safety Rules that are related to flying activities. Any unacceptable behavior by an individual member or members, as defined by the Charter Members becomes the responsibility of the Charter Members. Any individual may be expelled from membership from the Club by a majority vote of the Charter Members if, in the Charter Members determination, such individual willfully commits any act or omission which is a violation of any of the terms of these Bylaws, or the Rules of the AMA, or which is detrimental to the Club or the AMA.
The President or the Charter Members shall make a periodic audit of the Treasurer’s books (ledger and checkbook).
Amendments may be made to the Bylaws at any time subject to a majority vote of the Charter Members, providing the membership at least five (5) days advance notice before said amendments are to be applied.
The grievance procedure provides a mechanism to enforce existing safety rules and or specific Bylaws by providing a progressive disciplinary system when needed. Although most complaints can be resolved informally, if a complaint is serious or cannot be resolved informally, the matter should be referred to the Club President or any Charter Member for its consideration by means of a Grievance Form. This form is to be completed and turned into the Club President.
At least one witness is required to sign the Grievance Form. The Charter Membership shall use its judgment in carrying out action on any properly submitted Grievance Form(s).

First Violation:
Viewpoints of both complainants and accused will be considered.
Complainant’s name will be disclosed.
A verbal reprimand will be given to the accused by the Club President should one be determined by the Charter Membership, and this will be recorded by the Club Secretary.
Second Violation:
Complainant’s name will be disclosed.
The accused has the right to a written rebuttal, to be reviewed by the Charter Membership.
If the Charter Membership so decides, the flying privileges of the accused will be suspended for thirty (30) days. Written notice of this shall be issued and a copy published in the Club newsletter.
Third Violation:
The Charter Membership will notify the accused in writing and the Club members via the newsletter that the Club will expel the accused from the Club.
Said expulsion will last for a one-year minimum, or longer of deemed appropriate by the Charter Membership.
The expelled member may reapply for membership after the expiration of the expulsion time period.
The above three actions will not be enforced unless they are accumulated within a two-year period of time. Any member receiving a Grievance, who directs any retaliatory action against the person filing said Grievance, will be subject to immediate expulsion from the Club. This is to include threats, intimidation, physical harm, intentional equipment damage, or any other action deemed to be retaliatory by the Charter Membership.
All model aircraft operated by Club Members at the Club Field shall comply within acceptable noise levels as determined by the Charter Membership. This will be the individual responsibility of all Club members.
Maximum noise level shall be no more than 98 decibels (db) at a distance of no more than 9 feet.
All model aircraft shall be inspected for noise level prior to initial operation by equipment approved by and administered by individuals so designated by the Charter Membership.
All model aircraft where the motor, propeller or exhaust has been replaced or altered in any way after previously being approved shall be re-approved prior to operation.
Any model aircraft may be subject to random and periodic noise level checks by said designated individuals.
Any model previously approved and found to produce a (db) reading above acceptable limits during a random check shall be cause for reprimand and possible expulsion.
All newly enrolled Associate Members or Family Members are required to be flight certified by a current Club Instructor before being authorized for solo flying at the Club field.
The Club may be dissolved with the approval of a majority vote of the Charter Membership. Upon dissolution, the Charter Members shall, after paying or making provision for the payment of all liabilities of the Club, dispose of all the assets of the Club exclusively for the purposes of the Club in such manner, to the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Inc., or to such other organization or organizations organized and operated exclusively for charitable, educational, religious or scientific purposes as shall at the time qualify as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code, or to such other organization with purposes similar to the purposes of this Club, as the Charter Membership shall determine. Any such assets not so disposed of shall be disposed of by the Court of the County in which the principal office of this Club is then located as said court shall determine, which are organized and operated exclusively for such purposes.
