William Buonocore - guitar, mandolin, banjo
A native of New
York City, William Buonocore has been an active performer in New England
for more than 25 years. He has appeared as recitalist in New York,
Chicago, Boston, Baltimore, Toronto, Montreal, Caracas, and Seoul.
The Strad described him as "a guitar player of considerable
virtuosity and lovely sound" and the Boston Globe said he "played
with taste and mastery."
Mr. Buonocore has
performed with the Boston Symphony
Orchestra, Boston Ballet, Concert Opera Boston, Boston Philharmonic,
Rhode Island Philharmonic, and the Portland, Chautauqua, New Hampshire,
Vermont, Indian Hill, Nashua and Cape Cod Symphony Orchestras. Chamber
music credits include Collage New Music, An die Musik, Boston Musica
Viva, Lumen Contemporary Ensemble, Manhattan String Quartet, Folios
Guitar Duo, Alea III, Boston Conservatory Chamber Players, Masterworks
Chorale and others.
Mr. Buonocore is currently head of the Guitar Department
of The Boston Conservatory, where he has been a Faculty member since
1989. He has served as adjudicator for the Guitar Foundation of
America's International Guitar Competition, and as Artistic Director of
the Boston Guitar Fest and New England Guitar Competition.
Bill also
enjoys working as a pit musician and has performed for such shows as
Evita, A Chorus Line, Man of la Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Follies, Zorba, Ragtime, Chicago, Mame, Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat, Big River, The Spitfire Grill, Guys on Ice, Grease, Chess, Seussical,
Jesus Christ Superstar, The Will Rogers Follies, Footloose, Assassins, Godspell,
Smokey Joe's Café, Aida, Showboat, The
Full Monty, The Wild Party, Bat Boy, Dessa Rose,
Thoroughly Modern Millie
and Les Misérables.
He has recorded for
Koch International, Arabesque, Neuma, Nepenthe, Arsis and Centaur.
In addition to his busy performing and teaching
schedule, Bill also has a strong interest in computer technology. He is
a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and is currently employed as a
Solutions Architect at
EMC²
Corporation in Westborough,
Massachusetts.
