Reception to follow meeting. 2008/2009 Slate for Officers/Director The 2008 League Nominating Committee ( Elizabeth Mathews, Chair, Carol Edwards, Joan Boone) presents the following slate: Chair (2 year term): Jane Hill Vice Chair( 1 year unexpired term): Henrietta Umberger Secretary (2 year term): Jean Bratton Treasurer ( 1 year unexpired term): Carol Fields Director (1 year unexpired term): Eloise Couch This slate will be voted upon at the Annual Meeting, April 24. 2008 Candidate Forums Thanks to all who have volunteered to staff the 2008 Candidate Forums: Jennifer Wagner, Bob Vessey, Teresa Keller, Joan Boone, Sara Combs, Henrietta Umberger, Paige Umberger, Madelyn Stainback, Jan Hurt, Carol Fields, Diane Johnson, Bunny Medeiros, Janet Woolwine, Nancy Blaney, Mary Andrews, Jane Hill, Bob Hill and Charlotte Parsons. We have 100% participation of candidates in the Abingdon forum, 100% in the Glade Spring forum, and 100% in the Mayoral race in Damascus. Four of the nine candidates for the Damascus Town Council are participating. Damascus Mayor &Town Council, Tuesday, April 15, 7pm, Damascus Middle School Abingdon Town Council, Tuesday, April 22, 7pm, E.B. Stanley Middle School Glade Spring Town Council, Tuesday, April 29,7pm, Glade Spring Middle School. Co-sponsored by the Glade Spring Civic Club. All forums are so-sponsored by EHC-TV. EHC-TV will film all three forums and will broadcast the forums prior to the May 6 election. The broadcasts will be on Comcast, Channel 2, 7pm on Wed, Apr 30, Thurs, May 2, Sun, May 4, Mon, May 5. Local League MAL Now Member of the Chamber of Commerce Due to action taken at our March League meeting, we joined the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber announced our 2008 Candidate Forums. We are pleased to join local businesses and organizations in support of our community. How Many Years Have You Voted? Can you top this?
