Birders overlooking the Prairie   Birders surveying the Prairie from the Prairie Path.

The Preserve is open daily from dawn to dusk for visitors.  There is a kiosk at the main parking lot with information, and a number of foot trails. Although the Preserve is open, the main parking lot is closed in winter (except for workdays and scheduled field trips).  When the lot is closed, you can park across Industrial Drive and walk in, use the MacQueen entrance, or park in Reed-Keppler Park and walk across the bridge on the Prairie Path.  Don't park on Industrial Drive itself - you may get a ticket!

In addition, we lead a number of interpreted field trips each year.

Directions to the Preserve can be found here.

Scheduled Field Trips

Saturday, December 20, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.: Field trip. View winter resident birds. We'll record our observations for the annual DuPage County Christmas Count. For this one event, meet at the MacQueen Dr. entrance.
