Welcome! This site introduces you to some of the paintings of W. Allen
Berkshire.
Allen,
a Virginia Watercolorist located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, is a self
taught artist who has developed his painting techniques and artistic vision through
hard work and years of practice and by truly loving what he is doing.
Additionally, fellow artists Ray Yoder, Frank Webb and Tony van Hasselt
have each served to enrich the depth and character of Allen's artwork through
the sharing of their time and techniques.
You
will see that each of Allen's paintings, whether an Old Barn, a Local Market, Mom &
Pop Soda Shop, Beach, Boat or Home, reflect both his giftedness and his love for
the art.
When
not painting, Allen enjoys helping others develop creatively by regularly
hosting "Paint Out" events and
retreats at the Berkshire Mountain Cabin, located at the foot of Little
North Mountain, Virginia. Here artists of all ages and levels of
experience are invited to paint in a tranquil environment and receive personal
instruction and encouragement. The location abounds with inspiring
subjects to paint...native wildlife, wildflowers, a country cabin, an old barn,
a mountain stream, a bunk house, a rope swing, boulders, dirt roads, trees of
all kind, mountain scenes...etc. In addition to these retreats Allen has shared his time and talent as past
president of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society and is an active member of
the Virginia Watercolor Society. If you would like to know more about the
