Additional Information
Carl Edward Mobley (February 28, 1921 - January 28, 2009) On this day, after the end of golf, the golfers all gathered at the driving range to honor Carl Mobley for his many years as Wolverine Deaf Golfers member, as an Officer (former President), as a player (two-time state champion) and as an all-around good guy (always willing to stay after golf, drink with friends and swap stories). Allan Ruessman recalled the time Mobley was very excited to play in the MDGA tournament, he forgot to bring his suitcase. He did not realize suitcase was missing until they arrived at the MDGA site. He DID bring his golf bag. Carl was a standout softball player, was elected to the CAAD Hall of Fame, and did not start playing golf until his 40's. His boss forced him to come play golf one day. On the very first hole, very first time he tried to hit a golf ball, he missed the ball. His boss and friends laughed at him very hard. By the end of the round, he was hooked on golf forever. He had one regret - he wished he started playing golf earlier in his life. From 1964 to 2000, he attended every single Wolverine Deaf Golfers State Tournament. |
