Faulkwood Shores GC, Howell


There was a rain storm the morning of August 12th. Therefore, Faulkwood Shores was unable to cut the fairways and greens that morning. It did not matter, the downhill putts on some of the greens were still lightning-fast, especially on #3, #7 and #8. No one made PAR on the 1st hole, a difficult short par four, just 360 yards, with the fairway split in half by a creek. The fairways at Faulkwood are less than 20 yards wide on quite a few holes.

The state tourney is September 7 - 9 in Lansing. There is a scramble Friday afternoon, a fun way to play a practice round there, and 36 holes stroke play tournament on the weekend. The golf course is Chisholm Hills, a nice course, very popular with the Lansing area golfers. It is less than 6000 yards from white tees, but is still a challenging course because of the greens. They are small, but they also have plenty of slope to them. We must be below the hole, putting uphill, as much as possible. The headquarters hotel will be Holiday Inn, right off exit 104 on I-96. The golf course less than 3 miles from the hotel.
