The Links at Whitmore Lake


The Links at Whitmore Lake has two different nines.  Front nine is pretty open for the most part.  Back nine is tighter, more woods, more wetlands.  Very nice layout and variety of holes, but some holes are quite severe with long carries from the tee to the fairway, or fairway to green.  If you look at the scores, the back nine average score over par is 3 higher than the front nine.

The next outing is August 12th at Faulkwood Shores in Howell.  It is only $30 to play 18 holes there with cart.  It is a wonderful old-style golf course and always in good condition.  Interesting how they can keep the golf course in good condition with lower than average greens fees.

The state tourney is September 7 - 9 in Lansing.  There is an optional scramble event Friday afternoon, a fun way to play a practice round there, and 36 holes stroke play tournament on the weekend.  The golf course is Chisholm Hills, a nice course, very popular with the Lansing area golfers.  The headquarters hotel will be Holiday Inn, right off exit 104 on I-96.  The golf course less than 3 miles from the hotel.
