Some Basic U-pick Information...

When to Pick
One of the most important things to know about picking your own berries, or any fruits and vegetables, it is best to pick during the early hours of the day. It is cooler for both you and the berries; there is a lot less stress on both which is why we are only open during morning hours, starting at 7 a.m.

What to Bring (and Not Bring)
We provide buckets for you to use for picking and we have bags in which to take your berries home. Because you're outdoors in the heat, you may want to bring some water to drink, bug spray, sunscreen, hats, etc. Please don't bring your pets as a consideration to others.

While Picking on the Farm
Because you're outdoors, you need to be aware of things such as insects, bees and wasps, fire ants, etc. Remember, anything that is "wild" in the outdoors in Alabama, there is a chance that you could encounter it here. Of course since we cannot control the environment, we ask you to be aware of these things. You should also be aware that the ground may be uneven in spots, so you need to watch your step. Also, please drive slowly while on the farm because there are pickers crossing the road as well as small children around. The parking area may change from time to time since this is a "working" farm so just follow the signs to locate the current parking area. And for safety reasons, please avoid driving into the berry areas where pickers are picking.

If you bring children, particularly young children, you need to make sure to keep them close to you. Because you're outdoors along with insects, etc., it is best to make sure your children remain in close proximity to you. Also, when it becomes hot, children often get too hot to pick for very long. And last, as a consideration to others, we have many customers who come to pick to enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment, so we ask that you keep a close watch of your children. Please make sure that children know how to pick the ripe berries and don't pick the unripe ones, and leave the unripe berries to ripen.
