Natural yarn

This yarn is made from the fleeces of our own sheep.  It has been hand cleaned, hand carded and hand spun.  It is a sport-weight worsted yarn excellent for knitting sweaters, scarves or mittens.  It is also excellent for hand dyeing.

                      For knitters

I learned how to knit while pregnant with my third child, Finn.  Although still a novice, I just can’t get enough of knitting!  I think I enjoy reading knitting books and magazines and leafing through patterns as much as I enjoy knitting.  I look forward to also learning how to crochet.  These are dying arts of our grandmothers (and grandfathers) and I am so happy to see that it is again an “in” thing to do!  Take a lesson at a local knitting or craft store near you and have fun.

..woah—it’s hot!

Pick up a copy of Betty Christiansen’s wonderful book, “Knitting for Peace”.  It includes chapter after chapter of domestic and international charitable organizations that focus on knitting for charity.  She provides history or the origin of these organizations, patterns, locations for project drop-offs and contact info.  Warm Up America is just one of many organizations that she includes….knit one or many squares 7” by 9” and bring to local drop off point.  Squares will be sewn together to make a beautiful afghan and given to shelters or other care facility..  Great way to use up extra yarn just lying around.
