As an associate editor for our first issue, I was a higher power among the staff. I anticipated a need for photographs, and took pictures at churches and religious centers around campus, that could go with text stories. I took the photos before the stories were written, so my objective was to make them general enough to work with a range of different stories, while still on the topic of religion on campus.

My responsibilities included two of the four reporters, Aaron Boyd and Victor Santos. It was my role to help them write their stories, and to ensure they got their work done on time. Once they handed in drafts I helped them make general edits.

I helped create an early version of the layout for the site, including the circular photos, which are meant to echo the circle around the word “dot” in the masthead. I also assisted with the photography that became the background for the masthead, a twilight image of a university seal emblazoned on a brick walkway in front of Homer Babbidge Library.
