Diane's Birthday, December, 2001
|

Yep - we still celebrate birthdays, especially Diane's. I mean, we don't even begin to think about the possibility of starting Christmas until we celebrate her special day! This year Michael, and I took Diane out for dinner - and thereby hangs a tale!
The restaurant of choice was the Speakeasy Steak House in Independence, Oregon. Check the link for details. Bobby Muis and Shelly Loynes have designed the place as a throwback to the Roaring '20s. Even the waitresses are dressed as "flappers." We told Diane of our plans and sent her the above link.
Later I called and asked what she thought. "Sounds great! she said. "Let's go in costume."
Ummmm - sure!
Remember - this is the girl who sent us the length of the John Muir Trail (another story) and to the source of the Columbia River (click "Trips") with similar statements. Ah, the voice that launched a thousand adventures! Well, why not?
So we did - opting to leave the violin cases home. Wish we could show you what it tasted like - the food was great! They do put ground pepper on the Porterhouse steak, so if that's not your style, ask them to leave it off. No problem!
Here's what it looked like!
