GRADE 3

 


 

       Grade 3 began the year with a review of shapes, color and composition to create an abstract design. Students were asked to apply various elements, such as, line, geometric forms, on to three 5" x 7" index cards connected together. Below are the guidelines:

ABSTRACT DESIGN

INTEGRATE THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS INTO YOUR COMPOSITION.

* CIRCLE 
* OVERLAP AT LEAST 2 SHAPES
* SQUARE 
* CROSS THE INDEX CARD LINES TWICE
* TRIANGLE 
* TOUCH OUTER EDGE OF CARD WITH 2 SHAPES
* LINE 
* TOUCH OUTER EDGE OF CARD WITH A LINE
* DOTTED LINE 
* VARY SIZE OF SHAPES
* NUMBER
* LETTER                                                    
* SEMI-CIRCLE 
* OVAL 
* MAKE UP YOUR OWN SHAPE 

COLOR
* USING CRAY-PAS =  BLEND
SHADE
* VALUE RANGE

     Students were then asked to separate the index cards. Students then expanded the elements of their composition to the background space.
