"Meditation on Natural Organisms"

           Sam Taylor, a parent of children in grades 2 and 5, works as a potter from his studio, Dog Bar Pottery, located at Perry Hill Road. He visited our school this year as an artist-in-residence to help with the design of a triptych tile mural. This mural will be permanently installed sometime this year.
      Students began this project in January. Grade 5 worked together to create casts of plants, fish and birds. Grade 2 designed insects. Grade 1 made impressions with sea shells and plants. Grade 4 imprinted Haiku poems which were written in Mrs. Lipman's computer class. I have enjoyed working with Sam - the creative process has been invigorating! Inspiration for this project originated from the combined work of artists, Rousseau and Gaudi.
