Elliott House

We have stayed at the Elliott House Inn nine times, which leads the pack in repeat visits.  Why? Because we love Charleston, South Carolina, and the Elliott House is the most centrally located, quiet, and kid-unfriendly place in town.  The rooms are very small, but beautifully decorated. Breakfast is brought to the room every morning on a silver service.  There is wine and cheese in the courtyard each night at 5PM. Now the bad news: the original owners retired and the rooms have been sold as individual condominiums, which the owners rent out to guests. In our 2007 visit, our old favorite Room 17 was a disaster.  Now (2009) we have learned that a health inspector has shuttered the place. Its future is uncertain. So, enjoy the pictures and we will enjoy our memories.

Room 17... nice four poster bed.

Room 17 in 2007 - no more wallpaper.

Room 30... very plain.. no wallpaper.

Room 16. The wallpaper will keep you up at night.

Room 36. One of the prettier rooms.

Room 29.

View from the 2nd floor to the courtyard.
