Our first, and hopefully not last, trip to Bermuda in honor of our tenth anniversary... not of our wedding, but of when we met... actually not this month but in July. It’s a long story. We stayed at the Reefs in South Hampton.
The view from our balcony. Only downside of our room... the pool and whirlpool were right under it which meant it was a magnet for every FAMILY with SMALL CHILDREN in the place. Ugh. We survived the experience.
It was too chilly and windy most of the trip to go onto the beach, and we didn’t really want to mess up their neatly raked sand anyway. What an orderly place.
The island is volcanic in origin which makes for some interesting formations. The water... well these pictures don’t come close to the shades of blue.
Moongates were the big thing at the hotels and resorts. Legend says that if lovers hold hands while walking through the gates something or other will happen to them. We tried it. It did.
Watch Tower at the Dockyards
There must always be a pub. The Frog & Onion is a good one.
We spent a windy, chilly day strolling around the Botanical Gardens.
Yet another breath-taking view from our room. Yawn. Pretty tough to take.
The room wasn’t big but it was just right... and very quiet.
Being a British Isle, Bermudians take high tea at 4PM sharp. We partook (with pinky up) a couple of times. Most proper.
Commissioner’s House, high atop the Dockyards. Great views from up there.
Hamilton, from the shuttle ferry.
Historic stuff here. The Sessions House is the Parliament of Bermuda.
It was Dress for Dinner every night, which meant a jacket and tie for Wes. Oh yes... and we WON THE TWIST CONTEST ON THE LAST NIGHT. It helps when your competition is REAL OLD.
Wes obscuring an otherwise marvelous view at the Commissioner’s House.
