Jamaica

Ya, mon. This was our third trip to paradise -- the first in 1994 to Swept Away in Negril and the second in 1998 to get married in Ocho Rios at the Grand Lido Sans Souci.  This trip was to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The first four days were great. On Monday, Feb. 17, we packed to come home only to find that the Philly airport was closed, so we re-upped for another day. On Tuesday we were told we had a flight, so we went to Montego Bay and discovered that we had no flight again... so we checked in to another resort, Sunset Beach, and toughed it out for two more days. Not nearly as nice a resort, as we were greeted by the sound of a child throwing up. Oh well. It beat staying at the airport. We found absolutely NO SYMPATHY from our so-called pals for being trapped in Jamaica for three extra days.  Go figure.

Our room at Swept Away.  Each beachfront unit has four rooms. We had a second floor room which gives lots of privacy.

The veranda is a great place to sleep... or whatever.

There are ten tennis courts at Swept Away. Due to a couple of erratic shots, we used them all.

Beware of falling coconuts.

Do NOT call me on my cell phone whilst I am on the beach.

We were SHOCKED I tell you to discover alcohol being served on the beach. We got over it.

4PM Friday, Feb. 14. Now married 5 years.

At Rick’s Cafe in Negril.  Wes did not drink enough Red Stripe to enable him to cliff dive.

Ricks again. Ya, mon. No kidding.

See the tree at the right side of the picture on the left? See the native dude up in that same tree in the picture above?  That is a lonnnng way down to the water. For $10 he jumped.  He made it.

There goes another fine citizen who can’t read signs off the 33 foot cliff.

The best sunsets in Jamaica are in Negril.

Post-sunset bliss.
