About Me

Our founding fathers knew that government is the refuge of scoundrels and the crushing fist of tyrants.  Even in this age of runaway government spending, programs, and legislation; there are a growing number of citizens that are realizing that government is not the answer, it is the problem.  This site is dedicated to those people and their ideas.

John West's definition of Liberty = the maximum possible absence of government.

This is my view of government and liberty.

Governments very existence destroys liberty.  Government is a necessary evil, but make no mistake, it is evil. 

The founding fathers understood that government can only do a limited number of things well.  They enumerated those powers into the Constitution.  For a hundred years the founding fathers vision remained intact and this country experienced amazing growth and unbounded innovation.  Today we have busybody politicians writing blank checks to every special interest group that can make enough noise.   The government can defend you from invasions, and provide justice to those whose rights have been violated, but beyond that the government quickly becomes nothing more than self-absorbed tin-horn dictators and jack-booted thugs that enforce their will through threat of force.  As Jared Diamond has asserted, government officials run the gamut between benevolent, egalitarian bureaucrats all the way to ruthless, immoral kleptocrats.  Remember, no matter how good the initial intentions are, the fact remains that the government backs up its words with GUNS.

The founders would have done us all a favor if they had made it more clear that the Constitution set up a government that could only do what was strictly legal and the citizens could do anything that was not illegal.  That difference in limits is very important and blurred out of recognition by the government we have now.
