Gather / Belong
Jesus said that wherever two or more were gathered in his name he would also be found in that place. Our Christian walk is deeply personal but never individual; we are bound together by God’s accepting love into a community of faith – a community where we may practice together the living of that love in welcoming, accepting, challenging and nurturing one another as we grow in friendship and faith. At WestM we welcome you no matter where you are on your own faith journey and invite you to a place of belonging.
Since we come with a variety of gifts and interests, we also offer a variety of ways to gather including time to celebrate the Spirit through creativity and play:
Student Gathering: We gather each Wednesday evening during regular school terms from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM here at WestM. We share a homecooked meal (free) followed by a time of study and fellowship including singing and prayer.
We will take a look at what are known as the "Apocryphal" books of the Bible. These are writings that emerged during what is know as the inter-testamental period in the years between approximately 200 BCE and 200 CE. They have born a good share of controversy over the years as to whether or not they should be considered as "holy scriptre" or part of the Biblical canon. Today, they are incresingly seen as being of great significance for what they help us to understand about the more inmmediate context in which Jesus is born and carries out his ministry. Join us for this jouney into these "hidden" books of the Bible.
Game Nights: Watch the calendar for Friday night game nights during the fall term.
R2R (Reel to Real): Dates: TBA
Join us as we share a popular film and search out the images of faith and/or spiritual truth it might hold for us. The popcorn will be fresh as will the company and conversation.
Snow Shoe Adventure in the Cascades - Saturday, January 24, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Take a break from the studies and stretch your lungs and legs in the beautiful Cascade Mountains. We will meet at WestM and carpool up. You will need to provide your own snow shoes as well as bring your lunch, snacks, etc.. Snow shoes can be rented for the day at the OSU Outdoor Rec Center.
