Explore / Grow

To be a disciple of Christ means, in part, to be engaged in a process of learning and exploring as we both deepen and broaden our everyday awareness of God, our understanding of who Jesus was and who he calls us to be in our own time and place as we are led by his Spirit. Through WestM we offer a variety of ways to explore and grow in your faith in a safe and accepting community:

Student Gathering:  Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 PM (see "Gather / Belong" page for details).

Worship Experiences:

Prayers for the Journey - Need a place to be quiet? To meditate? To pray? To reflect on your journey?  Just as we need food for our physical bodies, so too we need spiritual sustenance for our souls.  Join us in this space that is set apart for you to be still and to listen to your heart, reflect on your journey, and attune to the Sacred. You are invited to just sit, be, and contemplate, or to engage experientially in prayer stations through art, writing, music, lighting candles, and movement.  Choose your own pace, engage in the stations of your choice and stay as long as you like.  Come, connect, listen, and offer prayers for your journey.  Questions?  Contact Leah at revleah@comcast.net  Westminster House (corner of 23rd and Monroe)

Wednesday, February 6, 5:00 PM  Worship service at Newman Center (next door to WestM – corner of 23rd and Monroe)

Spiritual Growth Groups:

The Way of Prayer Small Group - The Way of Prayer is a 6-week intergenerational and ecumenical small group designed to help people expand their understanding of the nature and practice of prayer. Many Christians grow up with a limited vision of what prayer is and how to pray. The Way of Prayer offers many forms to explore and practice, both individually and as a group. People with different temperaments, spiritual types, and learning styles will each find expressions of prayer that draw them closer to God. They will also learn to integrate body, mind, and spirit in prayer, and to live a more creative rhythm between the inner life and the outward journey of service.  Cost for materials is $12.00.  Leah McCullough and Vicki Hesse will co-facilitate the group.  For more information, contact Leah at revleah@comcast.net

Six Tuesdays, January 29 – March 4, 2008, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Westminster House (corner of 23rd and Monroe)
