Short Bio

I’ve been a horror and sci-fi freak since I was able to walk and talk.  I’d sneak into my sisters stash of Vampirella’s and Tomb of Dracula’s and stare at the pictures.  Hence my fang obsession.  I used to watch Cliffhangers back on NBC when I was around 2 or 3 years old and root for Dracula.  Dr Who, Koljack:   The Nightstalker, these are shows I’d never miss.  I had a crush on Bill Bixby as the Incredible Hulk when I was 4.  I’ve always been this way.

I met my husband on-line and have been married for 7 years.  He’s a Fanboy and a computer God (but he still loses to me every time we play You Don’t Know Jack:  Movies.)  Thanks to him I’ve lived on both coasts, now in Oregon and before for a year in New York.  It was because of this I got the opportunity to interview at Fangoria Magazine for a job that, alas, I didn’t get (it wasn’t a job, it was an internship and I wasn’t a student).  But I got to be in the palace of my dreams there at Starlog and Co. and I got to meet the awfully cute and sweet Tony Timpone again.

I started this website along with my fellow Fan Sisters to show the world it’s not just the boys who love this stuff.  The girls like it too, and it’s about time we showed it.  I met these gals thanks to the awesome Shaun of the Dead.  We soon discovered we’d been separated at birth.  I love them one and all, and together we are going to give the boys a run for their money.

What made you realize you were a Fangirl?

I’ve pretty much always known I wasn’t like the other girls with their Barbie’s and whatever’s.  I did my 5th grade book report on one of the old Marilyn Ross Dark Shadows paperbacks.  So I would say…hmmm…probably since I was 4 years old. I didn’t know there was a term for it, but I knew that the dark side was for me.  And then Freddy Krueger and The Lost Boys came along and it was game over.

If you could be any character in any movie or TV show ever made, who would it be and why?

God, I made this question up and it’s a pain in the ass.  Hmmm…

 It’s a toss up between two…and I know that’s cheating but I really can’t pick.

  1. Mina in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.  Because she was strong enough to love the man who had gone through centuries of hell to finally find her again.  And when she does, she sees the man behind his monster.  Plus…Dracula, I mean hello!  Vampire whore is I.

 2.   Sarah in Labyrinth.  I’m not partial to Jennifer Connelly, but I see a lot of myself in the character.  I’d be tempted by Jareth too (what woman wouldn’t be) but in the end, she believed in the magic and kept that part of herself that would forever believe in it even when she had to grow.  And she did love him…you know she did.
