Flower Garden Point Reyes

This cottage at Point Reyes Station is showing off its Spring colors. We wanted to capture this beautiful site with an acrylic on canvasboard painting done plein air. It was a nice sunny afternoon; I set up my easel and began the painting, first, a charcoal sketch, then, the cottage and the back painting for the rest of the picture. At this point a fog was starting to come in from the coast, the wind came up in gusts with some light rain to follow. I beat a hurried retreat to shelter after the wind had blown dried grass into my paints and onto my easel and painting.

The rest of the painting was done in the studio.
