Ine, Japan

The Tango Peninsula is on the Japan Sea side of Honshu. Ine is at the tip of the peninsula nestled in a small bay. The Peninsula is noted for its fishing villages, especially for crab fishing. Ine, however, seems to be more involved with deep sea fishing judging from the hi-tech trawlers in the bay. The plein air painting group of six members was not interested in painting fishing boats, but rather the unique houses with their boat garages underneath. These are for low masted power boats; sailing craft and extra large vessels are moored in the yacht harbor in a breakwater at the opening of the bay.
