MGB/Bosch L-Jetronic

This EFI was built entirely from salvage yard parts. It was done as an exercise to demonstrate minimum cost to convert a carburetor MG to Electronic fuel injection. The primary savings comes from using a salvage yard EFI computer that is easy to install (runs off the ignition coil) and is found in almost every foreign car in the '80s. A single injector (Throttle Body Injection; TBI) was chosen to overcome the difficulty of dealing with the Siamese ported intake on the 4-cylinder engine. The Bosch L-Jetronic is an easy way to get into Fuel Injection as a first project.

The later MGB only has one carburetor and it has an outlet at the rear of the head for coolant. This makes the conversion to EFI simpler for these cars. The Ford throttle body is bolted directly to the existing manifold with an adaptor made from an aluminum plate.
