Q: How do I play?
A. If you're ready to start a new round and there's not one currently playing, type "CAPS UP." This warns the room that there's a game starting. If someone else has typed "CAPS UP" before you, they have the right to lead the round.
The round leader then puts on his Caps Lock key and TYPES IN ALL CAPS during the round. Everyone else must remain in lower case for chat and game play.
The game is very simple, based on word association. The round leader chooses a word that often leads or follows other words. For example: " UP."
The round leader would then begin listing the associated words one by one. Using the guessword "UP," some associative words might be:
BREAK / SCALE / START / SHUT / BELLY / STANDING
( break up / upscale / upstart / shut up / belly up / upstanding)
The round leader drops these clues one by one until someone in the room makes the correct guess. When the correct guess is made, the round leader shouts "STOP" and names the winner. The winner then gets to either lead the next round or pass. If the winner passes, the next person to type "CAPS UP" gets to start the next round. And so it goes.

... and so it goes.
If the round leader stumps the room (i.e. nobody comes up with the guessword) he may choose to CAPS UP again or just pass.
SOME ADDITIONAL RULES:
Prefixes/Suffixes are not acceptable as clues or guesswords! For example: If "PHONE" is your guessword, "CALL" or "CAMERA" can be a clue, but "TELE" cannot!!
There must be a BARE MINIMUM of 3 clues per guessword! If you cannot think of more than 2 words to go with your guessword, think of something else or pass.
BEHAVIOR GUIDELINES:
The room is meant to be fun and friendly, a chat centered around a game activity. There are a number of MINORS (under 18) who are regulars here.
Because of this PLAY THE WORD GAME is generally considered a PG13 room. Mild swearing and frolic will be acceptable, while pornographic behavior and excessive profanity will not be. There's a fine line involved. If an op PMs you and tells you to knock it off, PLEASE knock it off. Failure to do so will result in a -v.
Also, this room is not a battleground. If you have a problem with someone else, work it out OUTSIDE the chat environment in a PM. Abuse and harassment of other players will not be tolerated and may result in an immediate ban.
