F.O.W.L. Book Sales
The Friends of Whelden Library hold sales from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month, from April through November.
Whelden In Bloom
Whelden in Bloom will be held at the Library on Sunday, June 2nd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Join friends and neighbors for wine, cheese and hors d'oeuvres. Plants, floral arrangements and other select items will be for sale. Donated by the Dig & Delve Garden Club, local business and Friends.
Citizen of the Year
The Trustees of the Library sponsor an annual award for the Citizen of the Year, who is a person of any age who has made West Barnstable a better place through their inspiration, dedication, and community spirit. The award is based on nominations from the community. Previous winners are: 1995 - Joanne Wallace; 1996 - Bette Nilsson; 1997 - Jim Jenkins; 1998 - Audrey Loughnane; 1999 - Martin Wirtanen; 2000 - Neil Atwood; 2001 - Jim McCarthy; 2002 - Susan Maki; 2003 - Nancy Shoemaker; 2004 - Kris Clark; 2005 - Mary E. Burns; 2006 - Helmi Viliesis; 2007 - Lily C. Tu; 2008 - Judith A. Desrochers; 2009 - John P. Jenkins; 2010 - Wolfgang Fattler; 2011 - Lenny Clark; and 2012 - Hank Farnham.
