Friends Yarn Sale
The Friends are having a Yarn Sale in the library from 10-24 October during regular library hours. There will be needles, patterns and bundles of yarn for sale at very low prices.
F.O.W.L. Book Sales
The Friends of Whelden Library will be holding book sales from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates:
- Aug 15
- Sept 12
- Oct 10
- Nov 14
Volunteers Needed
Whelden needs volunteers for shelving/shelf reading (that is, making sure
the books are shelved properly). Stop by if you want to help!
Citizen of the Year
The Trustees of the Library sponsor an annual award for the Citizen of
the Year, who is a person of any age who has made West Barnstable a better
place through their inspiration, dedication, and community spirit. The
award is based on nominations from the community. The 2008 winner is Judith A. Desrochers. Previous winners are: 1995 - Joanne Wallace; 1996 - Bette Nilsson;
1997 - Jim Jenkins; 1998 - Audrey Loughnane; 1999 - Martin Wirtanen; 2000
- Neil Atwood; 2001 - Jim McCarthy; 2002 - Susan Maki; 2003 - Nancy Shoemaker;
2004 - Kris Clark; 2005 - Mary E. Burns; 2006 - Helmi Viliesis; and 2007 - Lily
