Remember that our Projects are Contacts as far as Outlook is concerned. Consequently, mail-merge type add-ins to Outlook grab Project names (and other Project fields) very easily for merging into various documents. Here I'll demonstrate how to super-easily create labels for Project folders when setting up a Project.
I use the Aladdins addins for merging functions. If you don't already have such an addin, I highly recommend that you check out these from Manawatu Software Solutions at http://www.software-solutions.co.nz/.
When installed, the Aladdins Labels addin puts several buttons on the toolbar. The one we'll use here is for quickly producing labels on your desktop printer. With just a few clicks, we'll produce labels for whatever folders or binders we want to hold our Project stuff.
Click One ... Select Aladdins Labels
Open your Project form (or highlight in a table view), and select the Aladdins Labels toolbar button
![]() Click Two ... Select the Project File Label
Note -- In this example, a few other labels for use in mailing to real Contacts are set up. We'll pick the label that we've formatted for Project file folders.
![]() Click Three ... Print the Label(s)

For Projects I use end-tab folders that are on a shelf in front of my desk, so I print two labels for the folder to go on both sides of the end-tab. I print these labels on my desktop printer, using inexpensive (aka Costco) Avery labels. The Aladdins addin lets you pick which labels on the page are available for printing next. When I enter a new Project in Outlook, if I think that I'll need a folder for holding stuff, I do the clicks outlined here, and in less than thirty seconds, I have my project file neatly labeled and ready to go.
