Okay, there are different opinions about whether you should assign Projects due dates.  Notwithstanding the variety of approaches, this tip shows you how to assign a due date or reminder date to your Projects.  Perhaps you work in an environment with a "due-date" mentality.  Or it may simply appease your sense of order to establish deadlines for some of your Projects.  Or maybe a reminder to kick-start a Project in time to meet a commitment would be helpful.  Whatever the reason, if you would like to tag a Project with a date to monitor, here's how to quickly do it.

Step 1 ... Open the "Flag for Follow Up" Window
Highlight a Project on your Project list, or open a Project Form.  From the menu, select (Actions, Flag for Follow Up...).  Or in the alternative ...

On the toolbar, click the "Flag for Followup" button or hit the shortcut keys (Ctrl+Shift+G).

Step 2 ... Select a Follow Up Date
In the "Flag for Follow Up" window that opens, Click the arrow to the right of the "Due by" field, and select your desired date from the drop-down calendar.  Note that Outlook will not only put the date in the "Due by" field, but will also put in a time-of-day (as in the screenshot to the right of the next step).  You can accept the time, change it, or just delete it.

Step 3 ... Close the Follow Up Window
After your due date information is correct, Click the "OK" button.  Save and Close if you had your Project Form open.  You've now established a due/reminder/tickler date for your project.  In the next tip, we'll look at how to view the due dates in your Project list.
