On a Rainy Day

How many animals can you find?

Can you tell who I am?

Let's Travel

The Coloring Book

Its a rainy day and your kids come up to you and say they are bored. What do you do?

Here's some things your kids can do on a rainy day:

Bake a cake or biscuits

You can make a cake and let your children help you bake the cake. And point out how much of the ingredients you need.

Hire a video

You can let your children choose a video of their choice.

Watch television

Children love watching television.

Read books

Find a good book for your children to read and sit down with them to read the book.

Draw pictures

Get out your childrens crayons and let your children draw whatever they like.

Tidy their room

Children dont like tidying their room but you can make it fun by timing them how long it takes to tidy their room. Give them a reward if their bedrrom is tidy.

Make a robot

You can give your children some cardboard boxes, sellotapes, glue, felt tip pens or crayons, gladwrap rolls, toilet rolls etc. They could make other things as well like a rocket or dog. Let them be creative.

Play a board game

Boardgames are fun to play and your children will enjoy playing a board game like scrabble.

Making playdough

Playdough is easy to make and kids just love to play with playdough. You can make different coloured playdough by adding food colouring.

Give them cookie cutters to make different shapes. Heres how you make it:

2 cups plain flour

1 cup salt

4 tbspn cream of tartar

2 cups water

2 tbspn Olive Oil

1. Mix the dry ingredients together in a saucepan.

2.Cook gently and stir to stop lumps forming, the mix will suddenly thicken.Remove from the pan and leave to cool.

3.Kneed thoroughly.

4.To keep fresh, store in a plastic bag in an airtight container.

Finger paint

Kids will enjoy using this finger paint, its easy to make. This is how you make it

1/2 cup cornflour

1 cup cold water

3 cups boiling water

2 tsp tempera paint

1. dissolve cornflour in cold water, add three cups boiling water. Bring to boil and remove from heat just before it clears. Add tempera paint powder.

Spotlight

This has to be played at night, you need a torch for this game. Turn all the lights off and the person with the torch counts to 100, while the others go and hide somewhere in the house. Then the person with the torch turns it on and searches for the players, the first person caught is in for the next game.

Present game

Go to the shop and buy little things like lollies, toys etc. Wrap them up seperately, you can also get boobie prizes like a toilet roll, plastic container or whatever you can find. You need two packs of cards. One person in charge perhaps a parent holds one pack of cards and dishes the second pack out. The person puts a pack down and calls each card out. Whoever has it puts the card down and choses a present. A prize can be chosen from the pile or from what someone else has collected. The game continues until the cards run out. Those left with presents keep them, or they can swap them.
