This will be my first completed airplane build since I was 13. What can I say, I hit a 50% off sale and had a moment of weakness. It has been a long time since I have opened an airplane kit and I had forgotten how easy those AC guys had it. There are hardly any parts in the box! The real challenge has been making sure all the seams are filled. Anyway, this has been a good departure from the usual AFV kit.
I am currently working on a series of figures to man my growing armor collection. The figures include offerings from Tristar, Tamiya, Warriors, and Verlinden. I have also added a few Ultracast heads to some of them. All the figures have been mounted on toothpicks and primed with enamel paint.
This is the Dragon Night Fighting Panther and it is a very well detailed kit. However, I am adding Eduard PE, Aber fenders, Friulmodel tracks and I am debating on weather or not to add an Eduard barrel. The detail of this kit makes the Tamiya kit look like a toy and for only $16 I had plenty of money left over for after market goodies!
I have always had an interest for the Pz III. This is a super-detailing project that I am slowly making my way through. The kits include a Tamiya Pz III L, Verlinden interior, Aber details, a Jordi Rubio barrel, Friulmodel tracks and a lot of scratch built parts. I also purchased Tank Workshop escape hatches for the hull side, but have reconsidered using them. There is still a LOT of time that needs to go into this project. When it is complete, it will be painted in a North Africa scheme.
This is my Kursk Ferdinand and includes the Dragon kit, Aber fenders, Aber details, and Friulmodel tracks. It has been primed in gray so that I can see what needs to be filled, or filed. I have also replaced most of the visible weld seems. The last picture is of the front fender. This assembly was especially tricky. Hopefully, the Ferdinand probably only needs another few hours and it will be ready for paint, but it is put on hold until I get interested in it again.
This is my BABY!! As you can see, I have gathered quite a collection of references for the build. It will represent a Tiger during the battle of Kursk (S13) . When I saw the Aber super set for the Tiger one, I snatched it up. Unfortunately, I think at least half of the Aber details will not get used. This project has been put on hold for a while because I got fed up with so many brass pieces. (Now that is irony)
