Today is Teddy's 1st Birthday!

Thanks to all of you for your part in getting him here.

He is an extremely healthy, happy, rambunctious (sometimes bratty),
and contented kitty and he is sending many purrrrs out to all of you.

Teddy had his operation today!!

Everything went great!  He was a major hit at the hospital.  I think a few people wanted to take him home.

He came out of the anesthesia without any problems.  A little glassy-eyed at first but when I called a few hours later, he was sitting up looking at the nurse while she talked to me.

On the 18th he must have looked a little bored so the nurses hung a toy mouse in his cage.  He had a great time bopping it around.  He was acting like a kitten which was exactly what they wanted to see.

We picked him up today, the 20th.  He's been relaxing in his room and enjoying his window again.  He has a great appetite now.  I posted some new shots on my Flickr page and will post a few shots here soon too.

Now we have to keep him on "limited activity" for a week.  Which is always easy for a kitten, right?

On August 28th he'll go back to the vet to have his staples removed *ouch* (not looking forward to that visit).

My apologies to those who just received my update e-mail today... I was away from my work computer for a few days and neglected to transfer my "Teddy e-mail list" home so I was unable to send out the updates like I wanted to.  I did post some updates to the "Help Kitten Teddy" Group on Flickr during that time though in case you want to check them out too.

More to come.....

UPDATE

I want to thank everyone who has helped out with Teddy and his situation!  The response has been amazing!
In a mere two and a half weeks we have managed to reach our maximum goal and for that we want to send our love and thanks to everyone who participated.
From the ones who sent good thoughts and prayers - to the ones who "spread the word" - to the ones who sent donations, big & small, you have all been wonderful and we appreciate everything you have done for Teddy!

On August 16, Teddy will be visiting the vet to get his shots and be evaluated for his surgery. As things progress, I will update this website with news and pictures from his recovery.
I have put together an e-mail list from those who donated so that I can send out alerts as things happen.
If you want to be included in these updates, please send me an e-mail here:
willow2k@gmail.com and I'll add you to the list.  (Also, feel free to e-mail me anytime with questions or comments.)

A majority of you are here from the Flickr community.  For those who are not Flickr-ites, or are interested anyway, you can also see pictures of Teddy on my Flickr page.

Again, thank you all so much!!! And keep sending your good thoughts and prayers!  His next obstacle will be the surgery!

Love to all. Cheryl, Ron & Teddy

P.S. I've left one last donation link at the bottom of this page in case anyone still wants to help in the, hopefully unlikely, scenario that there are complications that raise the cost of the surgery.  Again, any donations above and beyond the cost of the surgery will be given to our local Animal Welfare Association.  Thank you!

Hi, my name is Teddy

I was a stray

THANK YOU!!

I'm not sure what happened to me but when my new people found me I had two very wobbly rear legs.

THANK YOU!!

My new people took me to the vet and found out that I have a diaphragmatic hernia (in other words, my intestines are in my chest cavity crowding my heart and lungs, which is why I'm always breathing heavily).

THANK YOU!!

The vet thought that maybe someone kicked me really hard or maybe I got hit by a car.  That would explain my wobbly legs.

THANK YOU!!

Luckily my problem is curable but only with an expensive operation.  My people and I hope that you can help.  Even as little as a dollar a person can really add up if enough people care.

THANK YOU!!

I can't wait to be able to run around and be a kitten again.  Right now I'm supposed to take it easy so I don't get out of breath.

THANK YOU!!

Donations received as of 8/08/07:   $1222.76
Money raised through eBay auctions:   $388.56
(pending auctions currently at $118.94 and rising.)
Jar of spare change cashed in:
$109.32

Updates will be posted on this page once the operation is complete so that you can follow Teddy's recovery.

This is a completely legitimate situation.  We are animal lovers who's hearts are bigger than our wallets.
Please only donate if you can afford it.  We do not want anyone to be hurt by our own hardship.
