Who is Willowgreen? My cover identity: A fortysomething Silicon Valley housewife and community volunteer with one spouse, two kids, and a cat. She bakes a mean apple pie and has an ugly habit of sneaking her children’s Halloween candy while they’re at school. My secret superhero identity: Willowgreen, a passionate, red-haired writer who bowls over all who encounter her with her intelligence, insight, rare common sense, and devastating wit. Why Willowgreen? When I first created my LiveJournal, I scanned my bookshelf looking for an appropriately whimsical yet not idiotic user name. I landed on one of my favorite books, Greenwillow, by B.J. Chute. Sadly, the name “Greenwillow� had been taken on LJ, but “Willowgreen� was available. When I chose the name, I wasn’t consciously thinking of the character Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but my affection for her was probably at least part of the reason the name felt right to me. Why Willowgreen’s World? At the moment, this is primarily a place to archive my fanfic. In the future, who knows? When you’re a secret superhero, the sky’s the limit. Buffy, Spike, and Me I started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer when it debuted in 1997, but didn’t become completely obsessed with it until part way through Season 4. (It’s just possible that that had something to do with the development of Spike’s character.) After the show’s cancellation, I was tragically isolated in my obsession until, in 2004, I discovered LiveJournal. Now I share my TV obsession, and other aspects of my secret superhero identity, with a whole community of BtVS/Angel the Series fans, all of them secret superheros in their own magnificent ways.
