This page tells you about a non-profit organization called Canine Companions for Independence (also known as CCI) which has improved my life in ways you wouldn't believe. You may know by looking at my picture I'm disabled and have a service dog. I'm not blind; my dog helps me perform everyday tasks which would be impossible without his help; he allows me to be as independent as I can possibly be.
Tasks include:
Picking up dropped items,
Opening and closing doors, (rope is needed for this)
Turning lights off and on, (uses paws and mouth)
And most important to me anyway is that he is always ready to listen when I just need to talk about things and he never tells anyone...
Sadly Hudson died of cancer October 28th 1999; He was 8. Hudson helped me so much I knew I needed to get another Service Dog, so on February 19th 2000, I graduated with another beautiful golden retriever his name is Sedona; his picture is on the first page of my website. We visited Sedona's puppyraisers in Atlanta in September of 2003. Sedona has been by my side for 7 years now. To see my page about Puppy raisers click the following link: CCI Puppy Raisers
UPDATE: August 28th 2006 I found out Sedona at age 8 has cancer, so I've retired him and now Brim helps me.
Libby lives in Alaska, since we met in 1997 we've seen each other 2 more times. I got to go to Alaska in 1999 and I want again in July of 2004, but I didn't get to see Libby. In December of 2000 Libby was in Ohio, so I went there to see her. The picture to the left was taken December of 2000.
I've met some very special people in my life; they help me see that whatever happens in life you can always come out on top. I have always been one who tries to never let things get me down; that's why my nickname is Willow, but it sure helps to have very supportive family and friends.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and have a great day. Feel free to write. I like getting e-mail!
Thanks for writing!
