Camping and Event Information

Camping

A special group campsite will be specially reserved for this event. We are asking participants to donate $20 per person (or more, if you feel generous) to Mountain Parks Foundation to help defray the weekend expenses.  Mountain Parks Foundation provides funding for educational and interpretive activities at Henry Cowell and Big Basin Redwoods State Parks.

The group campsite is located in a picnic area in the redwoods near park headquarters and Opal Creek and will be available Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.  Sorry, no pets or RVs. Reservations will be made based on receipt of payment.  If you want to reserve an individual campsite (dogs and RVs OK), make your reservation through ReserveAmerica.com or call 1-800-444-7275  (1-800-444-PARK).

Space in the group campsite is limited, and reservations will be made based on receipt of the $20/person donation.

Reserving a space in the group campsite is easy:

1) Write out a check to Mountain Parks Foundation.
2) Mail the check to:

Big Basin Redwoods State Park
Wings Over the Basin
21600 Big Basin Way
Boulder Creek, CA 95006

Please indicate how many people are in your group, which nights you will be camping (Friday and/or Saturday) and include an e-mail address along with our contact information so that we can confirm your space(s) and supply you with details about the weekend activities.

If you reserve a space and then need to cancel, the donation unfortunately cannot be returned, but know that it is going to a worthy non-profit.

For more information about Big Basin Redwoods State Park, see http://www.bigbasin.org/.

Directions to Big Basin Redwoods State Park

From San Jose or San Francisco

Take Hwy 280 to Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. Go southwest, towards the hills until you get to the Hwy 9 intersection in Saratoga. Turn right on Highway 9. Follow it up the hill to the 4-way stop at the summit (Skyline Blvd.). Continue going straight on Hwy 9, down the other side of the hill. Hwy 236 is a "U", intersecting Hwy 9 at either end and Big Basin Redwoods State Park is in the middle. It may be best to pass the first Hwy 236 turnoff as this is a very narrow and winding road which often results in carsickness and white knuckles. Instead, continue on Hwy 9 until you get to the town of Boulder Creek. Turn right at the gas station onto Hwy 236. This is a fairly straight 2-lane road that takes you directly into the park. From Saratoga, expect the driving time to be about an hour.

From Santa Cruz
