heroic – a Exhibiting or marked by courage and daring: b supremely noble or self-sacrificing – Merriam-Webster Online I'm not a big sports fan. In fact, if asked “How 'bout that game last night?”, I’ll usually reply “What game?” Nothing against it, but I’ve found that following professional sports is just too time consuming. But if asked to name one of the most heroic sports figures of all time, that’s easy! That would be Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was an NFL player on the Cardinals who was killed in combat in Afghanistan. He walked away from millions of dollars, fame, and a comfortable life because he felt he owned his service to his country to fight terrorism. He is a true hero in every sense of the word. A good article about him can be found here. |
