KBPE's in-house field of technical expertise is HVAC systems; however, we focus on the interactive performance of all building systems. Vast experience and association with other speacilaty engineering firms enables us to provide full building commissioning and engineering services for projects of any size or type. HVAC Systems Engineering: KBPE works directly with owners to optimize the long term performance of HVAC systems. We're skilled hands-on field engineers with real-world experience. Our excellent listening and teaching attributes enable us to work closely with building occupants, managers and operators in order to engineer the building systems that serve them over the long haul. Building commissioning: KBPE is one of the profession's most experienced commissioning providers. We provide our services in accordance with Essential Attributes and Valuable Elements of The Building Commissioning Association (BCAA). The commissioning approach we typically advocate fully integrates commissioning into design and construction, rather than treating it as one more thing to do at the end of the project. This streamlines the process, minimizing cost and impact on the project schedule. The prime commissioning consultant remains directly accountable to the owner but the entire design/construction team takes ownership of the commissioning process. KBPE is skilled at helping clients identify and prioritize their needs, clarifying what can be accomplished within their budget, and developing the most cost effective approach for their project. Examples of new project and retro commissioning services we have provided are:
- Field testing, and evaluation of existing systems;
- Assist owner in defining and documenting the project requirements and acceptance criteria;
- Assist owner in selecting design team;
- Establish format and review content of basis of design documentation;
- Design review, from concept design through final construction documents;
- Work with design engineer to completely develop and specify generic control logic for implementing sequences of operation. Enables detailed functional tests to be specified in the bid documents, which facilitates the bidding;
