Software consulting at Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon, with responsibilities including support, maintenance, and enhancement of Kintana Create and Deliver workflows, integration of workflows with ClearCase source code control system, installation, configuration, and support of WebSphere based J2EE applications, and mentoring of staff in Unix and Java.

 

Aug 00 – Jan 02 

Software Design Engineer, Vanderhouwen & Assoc., Inc.

 

Contracted at LSI Logic, Inc. in Gresham, Oregon, designing and implementing a test data conversion system. This system, implemented mostly in Perl, prepared wafer test data files, in various formats, for loading into a database used for yield analysis. The implementation entailed the development of embedded SQL, using Perl DBI, in order to pull missing data from Informix and Oracle databases. A web-based management interface to this system was developed using the Java Servlet API, Java Server Pages, RMI, and Javascript. The target environment for the web interface was Apache/Tomcat. Other duties on this project included the debugging and enhancement of a C utility used for binary to ASCII conversion, as well as the development of Unix shell scripts and Makefiles used for RCS source repository management and release building.

 

Apr 98 – Aug 00

Technical Lead, Information Works, Inc.

 

This position was at a start-up application service provider. Primary duties included the design, implementation and maintenance of a web-based marketing research application. The management and data collection component of this system was implemented in Java, relying heavily on the Java Servlet API, JDBC, and an object/relational mapping system developed in-house. Customer tailored surveys were formatted in XML and loaded into the system using a DOM parser. The reporting component of the system was implemented in Perl and Java. Survey data was exported to customers in both CSV and XML formats. Other duties included installation and administration of Sybase 11 RDBMS, Solaris system administration, network troubleshooting, capacity planning, technical support, and leading a small technical team.

Duties included maintenance, design and enhancement of x86 and 680x0 based embedded software for industrial infrared imaging systems, written primarily in C, TCP/IP network administration, and UNIX system administration.

Provided on-site and over the phone software and hardware support to Sun customers. Duties included system installation and customer training in using and administering Unix, Sun OS, NIS, NFS, and X Windows, on-site troubleshooting and problem resolution – both hardware and software.

Duties include writing and   maintaining   on-line, stand-alone, and PROM diagnostics for I/O peripheral controllers in "C" and 680X0 assembly. Interfaced with engineering and manufacturing to resolve problems encountered during system development and manufacturing.

Software Engineer, Integrated Solutions, Inc.

 

Duties included providing pre-sale and post-sale hardware and software support to customers, UNIX system administration, writing UNIX shell scripts for customer call and bug tracking systems, fixing bugs in UNIX utilities and device drivers, release engineering, including writing or modifying existing release build scripts and utilities, enhancing install scripts, and writing or modifying test suites to be used in testing UNIX utilities, libraries and system calls.

 

Mar 86 – July 87

Support Center Engineer, Sun Microsystems, Inc.

 

Providing hardware support to Sun customers and Field Engineers, repairing Sun hardware returned under terms of return to factory warranty, or hardware support contract, writing UNIX shell scripts and C applications to aid in the execution of Support Center duties.

Technical Support Specialist, Triad Systems, Inc.

 

During the first year and a half with this employer, I worked as a Field Engineer, providing on-site hardware and software support to Triad customers.  The remainder of my time at Triad was spent in a technical support capacity, providing classroom training, phone support, and documentation to Field Engineers.
