Author's Profile: William J. Dixon

Dr. Dixon received his BS (’82) in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University, MBA (’86) from the University of Houston, and Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (’07) from Walden University.

His professional career has extended information technology in both professional service and academic environments. During his 14 year tenure with Ernst & Young, he established the technology services organization in the Gulf Coast region, nationalized knowledge management (KM) initiatives in IT, and most recently initiated consistent KM tools and processes in IT across the global firm.

My passion for organizational change centers on the human aspects of resource optimization. I am fascinated by the life-cycle of ideas, knowledge and innovation in the enterprise. Don’t be put off by the fact I excel at the sometimes dreaded intersection of knowledge management and IT.

I am a high energy change agent, eager to make a positive impact on your organization. I am proficient in the vendor selection process and a subject matter expert in information management, knowledge management, taxonomy, and social networking. Recent leadership roles included the creation and facilitation of governance boards which were both global and more limited in scope. External client work has focused in the area of social media implementation, knowledge management strategy, policy and data security.
