Author's Profile: William J. Dixon

Dr. Dixon received his BS (’82) in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University, MBA (’86) from the University of Houston, and Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences (’07) from Walden University.

His professional career has extended information technology in both professional service and academic environments. During his 14 year tenure with Ernst & Young, he established the technology services organization in the Gulf Coast region, nationalized knowledge management (KM) initiatives in IT, and most recently initiated consistent KM tools and processes in IT across the global firm.

I am a researcher, teacher, and consultant who helps teams be effective through innovation.  I have experience in process design and optimization, team building, social networking, strategy formulation, and project management.  I have worked at Ernst & Young, Rice University, and the University of Houston.  Successful projects have been global in scope and been situated in the pharmaceutical, energy, and technology sectors.  My strengths include communication, analytic and leadership skills.  As a leader, I am particularly effective at aligning the human aspects of knowledge and project management with the technical aspects of IT.
