Welcome To WMACHINES Past and Present Oldsmobile's

Welcome to my past/present ownership of Oldsmobiles.  My very first olds was a 1972 Cutlass 350 2 bbl that I bought for $100.00 back in 1984.  My friend Denny talked me into that car.  Ever since then, I have been in love with Oldsmobiles.  So I have been collecting, racing, cruising and every day driving these cars since then.  I like to share some pics of my first car to present day cars.  Once you view this page, be sure to check out my favorite car.  Its a 1972 442 W30.  if you have any questions, email me at wmachines@comcast.net(Mark Prince).

This is it, one of the most ugly cars that I owned.  It was also one of the most reliable car I owned.  Like I said, I only paid a hundred bucks for this car.  It had a bench seat that I converted over to buckets from a Camero.  I replace all the front end pieces.  I broke the motor mount on the drivers side drag racing a 1957 Chevy.  You can tell that I graduated in 1985 with this car.  It was also the first car that I paid with my own money at the age of 17 years old.
This is a 72 442 W30 that I used to own. I bought this car about 15 years ago. The cars doesn't have the original engine or trans.  Unfortunately, I sold it in the summer of 99 to buy a home.

What the car does have is it is a real W-30 with an X in the vin code. 72 was unique due to that the vin code told what size engine the car came with. All 72 W-30 cars came with an X. Regular 455C.I cars came with an U or V in the vin code. There was a total of 772 W-30's built in 72. 322 4 speeds and 450 automatics. This W car is Flame Orange with black bucket interior with black vinyl top. This car is also an original 4 speed car. It came with a 3:42 rear end. Under the car right now is a built 12 bolt chevy 3:31 posi It came with the car but not originally. It also has a factory rally gauge pack, deluxe seat belt option with the seat belt warning on the dash. Am/Fm stereo and no A/C. All 72 W-30's came without A/C but you could get power disc brakes on automatics and manual discs on 4 speeds. This was due to the cam profile. Automatics had a 308 duration cam and 4 speeds had a 328 duration cam.

This car, a 1990 Quad 442 (W-40) has a five speed with a 3:64 ratio posi FWD trans, power windows, power locks, A/C, power disk brakes, Am-Fm cassette, rally pac, cruis, rear spoiler, special gold 442 lettering and  gray cloth bucket seats.  I ordered her brand new February 26, 1990. It was delivered on April 7th, 1990. I have kicked a lot of Mustang and SHO Taurus butts with this car. Best et. in the 1/4 was 14.95sec @ 94mph.  The engine is a 2.3L quad 4 rated at 180lbs and 160 ft. pounds of torque.  The Quad 442 stood for four valves per cylinder, four cylinder engine and two camshafts. 442 in the past meant in 64, four barrel, four speed, dual exhaust and in 65 moved up to 400C.I. four barrel and dual exhaust.  This car currently resides in Henderson, TN with 182,000 miles on it.

This was one of my  winter beaters.  It's a 1976 442 that I paid 350.00.  It has the original 350 4bbl olds engine in it.  It was a Missouri car, but Michigan has taken its toll on her.  The gas tank gauge has a short, the quarters and trunk are rotted.   Good thing this is my work car.   This Olds does happen to have 250,000 miles on it.  It also has a dead cylinder #7 to be exact.  I think its dead due to a burnt exhaust valve.  This one gets regular old oil, since it burns a quart a month.

These are my family cars.  I have two 1994 Cutlass Supreme SL 4 doors.  They both have  a 3.1L V-6.  The car on the left has 205,000 miles on it.  The car on the right has 196,000 on it. The one on the left  had the trans replaced, rear and front struts, exhaust and brakes 3 times.  Its a good dependable car.  The one on the right needed a trans also.  The car on the left is a 60/40 split bench car and the one on the right is a cloth bucket seat car with center console.  I use Mobil One synthetic 5W30 oil in both cars.   My wife drives the one on the right and I drive the one on the left everyday 80 miles round trip.

Here is one of my present Oldsmobiles.  Actually two if you count the car being towed.  This is my 1972 Olds Ninety-Eight.  I bought her in July 1999 with 77,000 miles on her.  Its an original Michigan car.  It was always stored away from inclement weather.  I am the third owner of her.   She has a 455 engine which was standard with ninety-eights.  I added a class III hitch, fender mirrors and anti-sway bars.   This car is in great shape for a 30 year old car.    The car on the trailer is of course my 72 442 W-30.  These pictures were taken at the 2001 Dick Miller Oldsmobile Nationals at Norwalk raceway, Norwalk Ohio.  Both cars get  Mobil One synthetic 15W50 motor oil in them.  You can't beat the protection of Mobil's synthetic oil.

Here are some pics of my 72 442 W30 that I bought in Gerogia for $2500.00.   This is what it looked like after I hit a 1969 GTX at the NOVI Cruise in 1994.  This is what made me decide to restore the car and the fact the car had been repainted before.  When it was repainted back in the early 80's they did the stripes wrong on the hood and on the body.  They also had the factory Tic Toc Tach missing.  The wiring harness was there but they had an aftermarket tach installed.
