CALLERLAB

A-1 Teaching Order

NOTE:

If viewing this list online, you may click on any call (concept, formation) to go directly to the online definition from the “Ceder Chest” at:

http://www.ceder.net/def/index_master.php4?language=usa

Particularly for the introductory terms, there may not be entries in the current “Ceder Chest”. In that case, you are referred to the CALLERLAB definitions document and your caller’s in-class information. In other cases, the “Ceder Chest” combines calls that CALLERLAB lists separately in their teaching order. For example, CALLERLAB separates ¼ Thru from ¾ thru, while “Ceder Chests” keeps them together.  Similarly, “Ceder Chest” includes a single entry for the “Belle and Beau” naming conventions, while CALLERLAB only includes this for couples facing the same direction at the A-1 level. Your teacher/caller should be able to help you if you have any questions about whether a specific variation is or is not valid at the A-1 dancing level (or at your stage of instruction).

·       How Mainstream Calls Are Extended at Advanced .

Section of the CALLERLAB Advanced Definitions document.  Callers may introduce this material “as needed” or at the beginning of your instruction – or (in some cases) not at all.  However, all of this material is useful to know as your pursue your higher-level square dancing career.

Some callers do not follow this order exactly.  Before using this list, ask your teacher whether they do or don’t follow this teaching order and if they do not, ask them for information on the order that they do use.
