June 6, 2008 The rain has stopped and the clearing begun! Tomorrow's forecast is in the 90s during the day in the 80s for the first few hours of the beer. I also posted this year's beer menu. See you tomorrow. May 29, 2008 The brewing is done and the beers are ageing nicely. New this year is the 29°F Ordinary Bitter and DD (pronounced Double-D) Brown Ale. Higgy made us the always popular Raspberry Wheat and Carl is bringing a Hefeweizen. Who knows what else will appear? Its a go rain or shine; right now the weather news is good - sunny with high of 77°F. March 29, 2008 First posting for the BBF6. I fired up the brewery the other day for the first BBF brew - the newly reformulated King Philip IPA. Did you know we're in the midst of a world wide hop shortage? Good for the farmers making the big bucks; bad for the rest of us. Either way it's wreaking havoc on some old favorites. Also look for a new beer or two this year, the first of which will be the 29°F Ordinary Bitter. See you on June 7th. For now relive the BBF5 in Pictures. April 22, 2007 First posting for the BBF5. In case you're wondering why we're moving the date this year, brother Jeff is getting married on our usual day! September 18th, 2006 Pictures have finally been posted - look at the BBF archives. June 2nd, 2006 The BBF4 is on rain or shine. If the weather's bad, we have plenty of room inside. The beer menu for this year has also been posted. April 19th, 2006 The beer list has been finalized and the first of them are coming out of the brewery. Check out the "The Beers" page for all the details. Also added the "What Can I bring" tab so I never have to relive the pretzel experience again. Would you believe I still a bag left from last year? March 21st, 2006 Its almost the start of the brewing season so we should be finalizing the beers list pretty soon. Check back here for BBF 4 updates - otherwise see you on June 3rd, 2006. March 29th, 2005 Look here for BBF 3 updates - otherwise see you on June 4th, 2005. June 8th, 2004 The BBF 2 has made the history books. Ten beers on tap plus a New England Barrel Cider! Sixty-five of our friends from at least two different states were able to join us. Wow. Be sure to check out the pictures on the new BBF 2 Page. Darja and I would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who helped us out: Yin, Bob and Pete for helping setting up and tear down; Jeremy, Greg, Brian, Mark and Scott who all brought the guest ales; Pete for bringing the beer tent; Brian for loaning me all his equipment; Jeff and Jeremy for the cooking; Al and Diane for the pretzels; and everyone else for all the wonderful snacks. June 4th, 2004 The final beer menu is now available. Check out The Beers. Look for tasting notes in the Beer Menu. The BBF is RAIN or SHINE. Don't let the weather get you down - there is plenty of room inside. People often ask what they should bring. Anything would be greatly appreciated but I don't give suggestions anymore. Last year I foolishly told one person too many to bring pretzels and ended up with the world's greatest pretzel selection. This year I'll leave it up to you. We have the basics but appetizers, salads and desserts are always good. This year we've upgraded to Hoffman's Hot Dogs - they're an upstate NY favorite and probably one of the best hot dogs around. We've also added a home made root beer this year. Maybe the weather will be nice this year. If it is, we plan to set up in the backyard. Which means you might to bring a lawn chair if you have one lying around. Rumor has it we may even a live DJ this year... |
