Dr. John Hole

Genealogy of Dr John Hole to Daisy Kester - Dr. Hole was a Revolutionary War veteran who settled with his family near Dayton , Ohio in the 1790's. My Grandmother, Daisy Kester regaled me as a boy with stories of Dr. John in the war, as well as his encounters with Indians.

My Aunt, Madeline Coppess left a detailed genealogy of Dr. Hole, without which I couldn't have got started on the Hole genealogy. I have created this web page to help others who are interested and to get any additional information others may have.

The bonus to doing my research was the interesting cast of characters I found along the way , some of whom were:

James Harmon who arrived aboard the the ship Happy Entrance in 1653 and was apprehended for stealing from the ship captain's sea chest. James had a Rap sheet several pages long He was reprimanded for attempting the chasity of several ladies , and so on.

Nathaniel White the son of the Elder John White was elected to serve in the legislature of Connecticut eighty-five times. He rose to the rank of captain in the military and in his will left one quarter of his lands to the public school district. It was said of him that "he was a man of high religious character and sound judgement".

Lion Gardiner a wonderfull person whose story and that of his grandson John and the Kidd treasure is given in The ISLAND, by Robert Payne.
