Guidelines for Prayer
The keys to answered prayer - * Pray to the Father * Pray in Jesus Name
John 16:23 “Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in Jesus name, He will give it to you.”
There are different kinds of prayer, each with its’ own rules.
Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” [NIV]
Kinds of Prayer:
Prayer before a meal – I Timothy 4:5
Pray to thank God for our provisions.
“Father, Thank you for this day, and for this food you gave us. Bless it and sanctify it in Jesus name, Amen”
Prayer of Salvation – Romans 10:9
Pray to accept Jesus
Two things are included in the prayer of salvation:
Believe that Jesus rose from the dead Confess Jesus as Lord
“Dear God, forgive me of all the bad things I have done. I believe that Jesus died on the cross, went to hell, and rose again from the dead. I say with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. I am born again now. Thank you, Father, for saving me. In Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer in the Spirit – Acts 1:8
Pray in the spirit to bind the devil, to build up your spirit and when you do not know what to pray for.
Praying in the spirit is prayer in tongues
Prayer of Worship – John 4:24
Pray to fellowship with God
The prayer of worship takes on many forms such as, playing instruments, singing, lifting hands, and dancing, clapping hands, shouting, being still, and worshiping God in tongues.
Prayer of Intercession – Romans 8:26
Pray to stand in the gap for others, and to break the devils power.
* Intercession is usually done in tongues *
Prayer of Faith – Mark 11:24
Pray when you need something from God
“Father, I believe I receive all my needs, right now in Jesus name. I have all I need by faith, In Jesus’ name, Amen”
Prayer of Agreement – Mathew 18:19
Pray when you need something from God. Remember: agreement produces power. To pray this prayer, you must have two or more in agreement.
“Father, Sally and I come into agreement that all of our daily needs are met , In Jesus name, Amen.”
Prayer of consecration – Luke 22:42
Pray to find out God’s will in a matter. Pray only if His will for the situation is not clearly stated in His word, the bible. This is the only kind of prayer that we can pray, “…if it be thy will…”
“Father, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to mow lawns or to be a paperboy? I want to do what you want me to do, in Jesus name, Amen.
All other matters discussed in the bible are already His will, simply believe it and receive it by faith. (Hint) Quote from the scriptures, word for word, as you pray. This is the same way Jesus defeated the devil! It is written…
Prayer of Commitment - I Peter 5:7
Prayer to cast cares and worries on the Lord.
“Father, I cast the cares of going back to school on you. I thank you that I have favor with my teachers. I will not worry about anything. In Jesus name. Amen.
I hope you find these guidelines helpful. Learn to talk to God. He is your heavenly Father, and He loves and cares for you so much that He gave His only begotten Son to die for you! |
